Carn Ingli is an imposing rock outcrop dominating the coastline around Newport on the west coast of Pembrokeshire a few miles from Fishguard. It is actually a 4-hectare Iron Age hillfort with the remains of at least 25 huts. Parking is easy at Bedd Morris (follow the signs for Ffordd Bedd Morris from just outside Newport) as is the 2 km walk across Carningli Common. Just head east across the common and Carn Ingli can’t be missed. There are stunning views across to Dinas Island, Newport Beach, the Preseli Hills in the south east and even St David’s head to the west. To return you can either cross the common back to Bedd Morris or follow one of the many paths down to the village of Newport where you can shop or have a pub lunch before returning to the common.

Dinas Island is an easy circular walk in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. It is about 2km and will take around an hour and includes some steep paths. It takes the walker over Dinas Head with views across to Fishguard Harbour and Newport Bay. The walk can start at either Pwllgwaelod, or the village of Cwm-yr-Eglwys. There is a gravel path linking the two and car parks at each. There is an excellent pub called The Old Sailers at Pwllgwaelod which serves good sea food and is busy in the summer months.
