Directly on Amroth's seafront lane, Driftwood's front windows watch the tide cross half a mile of sand twice a day. The western, dog-friendly end of the beach is opposite; the Coast Path's official start (or triumphant finish) is a few hundred metres east; two good pubs are between.
Inside is simple, warm seaside comfort — two bedrooms, wood burner, boot-and-paw room at the back. The tunnels walk to Wiseman's Bridge and Saundersfoot starts along the seafront, and after winter storms the beach occasionally uncovers the stumps of its 7,000-year-old drowned forest below the house.
