Amroth strings along the shore where the Pembrokeshire Coast Path officially begins (or ends): a seafront of cottages and inns facing a long shingle-and-sand beach that empties dramatically at low tide — occasionally revealing the blackened stumps of a 7,000-year-old submerged forest after winter storms strip the sand. It's a modest, likeable village with two good pubs, a beach café and flat seafront strolling; the tramway tunnels walk to Wiseman's Bridge and Saundersfoot is a favourite. The western half of the beach welcomes dogs all year, which makes Amroth a fixture in dog-owners' plans.
