Amroth's beach transforms with the tide: high water laps the seafront's pebble bank, then the sea retreats to reveal a vast apron of firm sand perfect for long walks, kite-flying and beach cricket. After scouring winter storms, the stumps of a submerged prehistoric forest — bearing 7,000-year-old antler and flint finds — sometimes emerge from the sand at the low-water line, one of Wales's most evocative sights. The western end welcomes dogs all year; pubs and cafés line the seafront; and the tramway tunnels walk to Saundersfoot starts here. The Coast Path's official start/finish marker makes the eastern end a place of quiet celebration for weary long-distance walkers.
