Cookie policy

The short version
Our own statistics — which pages get read, which links get clicked, what people search for — are collected server-side, without cookies and without any identifier that follows you around. They work whether or not you accept anything, and they can’t be used to recognise you on another site. That was a deliberate design decision, not an accident.
Cookies that are set without asking
These are “strictly necessary” under PECR — they do something you asked for, and the site can’t provide it otherwise. No consent is required for them, and none of them is used for advertising or profiling.
pg_trip_edit— set only if you save something to a trip. It is what lets you come back and edit your own list. It holds a random token, nothing about you.pg_consent— records the choice you made about analytics, so we don’t ask again on every page. Six months, then we ask again.pg_admin— set only when a site administrator logs in to the admin area. Never set for visitors.
Analytics cookies, only if you say yes
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are worth writing more of. Nothing from Google is loaded until you click Accept on the banner — if you decline, or ignore it, no Google script is ever fetched and no Google cookie is ever set. Declining costs you nothing; the site behaves identically.
Where analytics is on, IP addresses are anonymised, and advertising and personalisation signals are switched off. Google is a processor for this data; their handling is covered by their own privacy terms.
Changed your mind? Deleting this site’s cookies in your browser clears the record of your choice, and we’ll ask again on your next visit.
Cookies set by others after you click out
When you follow a booking link, the affiliate network (for example Awin or CJ) and the booking provider may set cookies on their sites to attribute a booking — typically lasting up to 30 days. Those are governed by their own policies, shown on their sites. See our affiliate disclosure for how this works and what it does and doesn’t affect.
