Mill Pond Mews
Pembroke, Pembrokeshire · sleeps 4 · 2 bedrooms
A neat mews cottage on the Mill Pond path where the view from the main bedroom is, without exaggeration, Pembroke Castle across the water — floodlit until late, swan-patrolled at all hours, occasionally otter-visited at dawn. The main street's cafés and pubs are three minutes through the archway.
Two bedrooms, a small sunny courtyard, and parking beside the mews. The location works as the south-west's launchpad: Barafundle and the lily ponds fifteen minutes, Freshwater West's surf the same, Tenby twenty. Castle admission (do the wall-walks) is the mandatory first morning.
Why we recommend it
A floodlit-castle-across-the-water view for under £800 a week is the county's best value 'wow' — and the Bosherston/Barafundle corner is quietly the finest coast in Wales.

The local knowledge
Beaches nearby
- Freshwater West — Wales's premier surf beach: huge Atlantic sands, dunes, film fame — and genuinely dangerous swimming. Walk it, surf it, respect it.
- Broad Haven South — White sand, Church Rock offshore and the lily ponds behind — Bosherston's beautiful back door to the sea.
- Barafundle Bay — The golden cove with no road — half a mile's clifftop walk from Stackpole Quay, and regularly voted among Britain's best beaches.
Pubs, food & things to do
- Pembroke Castle (attraction) — West Wales's mightiest fortress and birthplace of Henry VII — huge round keep, wall-walks and Wogan's Cavern beneath.
- Carew Castle & Tidal Mill (attraction) — Norman castle turned Elizabethan mansion on the Carew river, with Wales's only restored tidal mill and a fine circular walk.
- Bosherston Lily Ponds (attraction) — Flooded limestone valleys of water lilies (best in June) winding down to Broad Haven South — otters at quiet hours.
