Aberfforest
A wooded, stream-fed cove between Newport and Cwm-yr-Eglwys that most visitors walk straight past.
Aberfforest sits at the mouth of a small wooded valley on the Coast Path between Newport Parrog and Cwm-yr-Eglwys: shingle at the top, sand below half-tide, a stream running down the beach, and a waterfall a short scramble up into the trees behind. A handful of cottages and moored dinghies complete it; there is nothing else, and that is the appeal.
Access is on foot — twenty minutes along the Coast Path from the Parrog, or down a narrow private-feeling lane with almost nowhere to leave a car, so treat it as a walk-in beach. The eastern side gives snorkelling on calm days, and the shade of the valley is a genuine blessing on hot afternoons when Newport Sands is baking.
