The thing to understand about dogs on Pembrokeshire beaches is that most restrictions are seasonal, not permanent. The usual pattern is a ban between 1 May and 30 September on the popular, lifeguarded stretches, and free rein the rest of the year. Turn up at Whitesands in February and nobody minds; turn up in July and you'll be moved on.
The beaches below are the ones that welcome dogs all year round. They tend to be the coves rather than the resort beaches — which suits most dog walkers anyway, because they're quieter and there's more to sniff.
Two things that catch people out. Restrictions are enforced by signs at the access points and they do change, so read the board rather than trusting any website including this one. And several of these beaches sit below grazed clifftops, where a lead is not optional whatever the beach itself allows.
How this list was made: Beaches whose dog policy, as recorded on their own page, permits dogs throughout the year rather than restricting them in season. It is worked out from our own data every time this page is built, not maintained by hand — so it stays in step with the individual beach guides. 10 of the 45 beaches we cover qualify.
