The Pembrokeshire Bucket List
102 places worth the journey — every beach, every stage of the Coast Path, the castles and the islands. Tick them off as you go.
Most “bucket lists” are ten photogenic places and a lot of adjectives. This one is the whole county: the 64 beaches we hold pages for, all 23 stages of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, the castles worth a day and the islands worth planning a year around.
Nobody finishes it in a week. Locals don’t finish it in a lifetime — there are coves on this list that need a low spring tide and a calm day in the same fortnight. Start with what’s near where you’re staying, and let the rest accumulate.
The beaches (64)
Every beach we hold a page for, from the famous ones to the coves you have to earn on foot. Each links to its tide times, dog rules and parking.
The Coast Path, stage by stage (23)
The full 186 miles broken into the stages people actually walk, north to south. Very few people do all of them — that is rather the point of a list.
- Newport to Fishguard12 mi
- Pwll Deri to Trefin10 mi
- Solva to Newgale5 mi
- Milford Haven to Pembroke12.5 mi
- Pembroke to West Angle Bay13.5 mi
- Amroth to Tenby7 mi
The castles (11)
A Tudor king's birthplace, a castle with its own tidal mill, and the free ruins most visitors drive straight past.
The islands (4)
Boats are weather-dependent and landing tickets sell out, so these are the hardest ticks on the list — and the ones people remember.
Planning around the list? Where to stay puts you near the ticks you want, the circular walks guide collects several at once, and autumn is when the quiet ones are at their best.
