Why we recommend it

Part of a converted former hotel a short, level walk from Saundersfoot's beach and harbour — and 'level' is the operative word in a village built on a hill. The Coast Path runs straight through the village, so section walks to Wiseman's Bridge through the old tramway tunnels or south to Tenby start from the door. The listing's spread of nearby castles — Manorbier, Carew, Pembroke — matches three of the eleven in our castles guide, all inside an easy drive. A sensible, well-placed base rather than a showpiece, at Saundersfoot prices that reflect it.
