Backed by a golf course rather than development, it keeps a wild feel even on busy days, with sandbars, a broad low-tide plain, and views back to Carn Ingli that define north Pembrokeshire. The main sweep welcomes dogs all year (estuary corner rules differ — check signs), and the estuary shallows warm pleasantly on sunny falling tides. Swimmers should respect the river channel and its currents near the estuary mouth; the open-beach section is the safer swim. The Parrog on the town side offers a sheltered alternative with café and boat moorings.
