Narberth Museum

Since 2012 the town museum has lived in the Bonded Stores on Church Street, where duty-free whisky, brandy and rum were once locked behind doors that needed two keys — the Revenue officer's and the store manager's — which is why the museum's logo is a pair of keys. Inside, the permanent displays are built for children as much as adults: a scale model of Narberth Castle with an interactive on siege tactics, a working model of the station with trains running to the original timetable, a recreated turn-of-the-century street of shops, and a Mabinogion woodland glade with a storytelling chair where the old Welsh tales play in English and Welsh. Temporary exhibitions rotate upstairs.

It's open Tuesday to Saturday, ten till five, last entry half an hour before closing. Adult admission was £5.90 (£6.50 with Gift Aid) and a family ticket £15 when we checked (September 2026); under-fours go free. The independent bookshop — new titles and a large secondhand section — and the coffee shop are free to walk into, which makes it a decent rainy half-hour even if you skip the galleries.

Parking is at Townsmoor, five minutes' walk. It sits naturally on a Narberth morning with the town's independent shops and delis, and is in our with-kids and wet-weather round-ups.
