Tenby with a dog is entirely doable — you just need the map in your head. In season (1 May–30 September) the postcard beaches, Castle Beach and North Beach's main sweep, are off-limits to dogs; the saving grace is South Beach's southern stretch towards Giltar Point, which welcomes dogs all year and is arguably the best walking sand in town anyway. Out of season, everything opens up.
The practical Tenby dog base is therefore the South Beach/Esplanade end of town, or the lanes towards Penally — from there you're on year-round sand in minutes and can still walk into the walled town for lunch (several pubs and cafés are dog-friendly; look for the water bowls on St Julian's Street). The Coast Path towards Giltar and Lydstep gives the big morning walk, and Amroth's dog-friendly end is fifteen minutes' drive when you want a change.
