133 ancient sites across 19 Pembrokeshire towns and villages.
Pembrokeshire has one of the densest concentrations of prehistoric monuments in Britain, and one genuinely world-famous connection: the bluestones of Stonehenge were quarried in the Preseli Hills, at Carn Goedog and Craig Rhos-y-felin, and a dismantled stone circle at Waun Mawn is the leading candidate for where they stood first.
The showpiece is Pentre Ifan, a 5,500-year-old burial chamber whose sixteen-tonne capstone rests on three uprights with almost no visible support. Beyond it: Carreg Samson above Abercastle, Carreg Coetan in Newport, the stone rows at Parc y Meirw, and dozens of Iron Age coastal promontory forts along the Coast Path, most of them unmarked.
