End-of-the-road village between two very different shores: sheltered East Angle Bay and the Atlantic drama of West Angle and Freshwater West.
Angle occupies the tip of the peninsula guarding the Haven's mouth, and its two bays could belong to different countries. East Angle Bay is all sheltered tidal flats, moored boats and the Old Point House — an ancient, sea-battered pub reached by a track the highest tides cover. West Angle Bay faces the open sea with sand, rockpools, a café and views to Thorn Island's Victorian fort; ten minutes further round is Freshwater West's surf.
The Coast Path circuit of the peninsula is one of the south's best half-day walks — lifeboat station, hidden coves, WWII and Victorian defences — and the village keeps a shop, church and the Hibernia Inn. Angle is for people who want the far end of things: quiet lanes, big water, and stars at night.
