The Torch is a small miracle of geography: a producing theatre — one of only a handful in Wales making its own professional shows — sustained for fifty years at the far western end of the county in Milford Haven. Alongside its own productions come touring theatre, live-streamed National Theatre and opera broadcasts, and first-run cinema, with a café-bar that works before and after.
For visitors it solves a real problem: the holiday evening or the truly foul day when the cottage walls close in. Check what's on and book on the theatre's site — the programme mixes family shows through summer with the main drama seasons either side.
It sits minutes from the Milford Waterfront marina restaurants and the town's museum, making a full indoor day possible without moving the car — the west county's strongest wet-weather cluster (rainy-day guide here).
