Marina town on one of the world's great natural harbours — Nelson called the Haven one of the finest he'd seen.
Milford Haven fronts the vast drowned river valley that gives it its name — a deepwater harbour Nelson admired and Milford's founders (whaling Quakers from Nantucket, of all people) built a gridiron new town above in the 1790s. Today the regenerated marina and Milford Waterfront quarter mix restaurants, shops and boat trips with a working port; the town museum tells the whaling-to-energy story.
For visitors it's a practical, well-priced base on the sheltered side of the county: the beaches of Dale, Marloes and the south coast are 15–25 minutes, and the Haven's own shoreline — Gelliswick Bay, the Scolton and Sandy Haven paths — offers calm-water sailing, paddleboarding and fishing. Torch Theatre adds proper year-round culture.
