Long-running surf school teaching the south county's beaches — lessons, camps and coasteering out of Pembroke.
Outer Reef has taught the south of the county to stand up for over two decades: beginner and improver surf lessons, holiday surf camps for children, paddleboarding and coasteering, run from Pembroke with sessions at the south-coast beaches chosen to fit the day's swell and tide.
The south's surf beaches are the big Atlantic-facing sands — Freshwater West is the county's most consistent wave (and a beach to treat with respect outside a lesson; its rips are serious), with Manorbier and Freshwater East as gentler classrooms. A lesson is honestly the right way into all three: wetsuits and boards provided, lifeguard-trained instructors, tides read for you.
Session times and booking on their site. The learner's map of every break is in our surfing overview and the surfing beaches list.
